I'm watching a lot of animated shorts nowadays, getting inspiration to finish my own short, "Daddy."  I remember seeing stills from "Bert" and not being interested in it, because I wasn't digging on the design.  Then at Animation Mentor they featured it in a collection of shorts and I watched it with my son, then a year and a half.  He squealed with delight by the simplicity of it, while I loved the richness and appeal of the animation.  So much for superficial first impressions.
